The house
A small studio,
quietly run.
MAISON LIVRE was opened in 2017 by an editor and a tailor who wanted to make fewer things, slower.
The studio sits in the Marais, four floors above a courtyard that has been quiet since the seventeenth century. There are four people in the studio. There are no juniors and there is no offshore.
Each season the studio pulls one piece from the archive and re-cuts it for the present moment. The rest of the season is the year's signature pieces, made twice. The archive itself is not large — fewer than three hundred entries — and it is not for sale. It is the design language; the next season is its translation.
